Wasabi Dog Sim Game has a unique breeding system which takes into account many different factors when players breed dogs together; including health/stat genetics, coefficient of inbreeding, color/markings, personality of the dogs, luck, and age. This system is intended to challenge the player to balance creation of a healthy dog with the stats and appearance they desire while working through the challenges of avoid inbreeding depression, the dog retiring out at a certain age, and the dogs who may be difficult to breed together due to their conflicting personalities. This guide below will help you understand how the game interacts with the players choices when breeding dogs and what are some common best practices to creating successful bloodlines.
Inherited Stats & Skills[]
Socialization stats and stat genetics are partly inherited from the parents. Learned skills are not inherited because this is the information and knowledge your individual dog has themselves through training experience. However, training your dog affects more than just learned skills and therefore it is worth training as much as possible to increase your dogs' stats before breeding them. You can improve both socialization stats and stat genetics in adult dogs by giving them sushi, equipping clothing items onto them, training them, and/or getting random/some holiday events while they are your active dog.
Many components go into creating a decent litter of puppies in the game. Generation two and higher puppies will usually be better should the player be training their parents, socializing the puppies, using sushi/clothing items on the parents, making good parent matches, and playing more often so random events are more likely appear to increase the stats of the parents. However, keep in mind, that the game applies random modifiers when breeding two dogs together, making it impossible to promise every litter will be what you were hoping for. Using other aspects of the game, aside from just hitting the Breed button, will greatly increase your dogs' rankings in the game, ability to place in shows, and likelihood of having better litters of puppies, which can sell for more to the pet shop.
Essentially the game works exactly how you would logically expect; spend more time and effort on your dogs, you will be rewarded with better quality puppies. The longer you hold off on breeding your dogs, the better your litters will be; if you are playing other parts of the game like showing, training, and generally using the website to achieve random/special event perks. Additionally, any time you breed, you can end up with the females not being able to show while with litter, so you can take a hit on the amount of time you could be spending raising the females' stats to achieve less litters - but better quality ones. So, playing wisely, breeding only when your dogs are well-trained, shown, or have their stats increases from their baseline pet shop stats (which are always low in pet shop generated dogs), and holding off on breeding until dogs are older can pay off in puppies with higher stats when born and overall, dogs with better rankings in the game.
Breeding Age & Breeding Limits[]
After a dog reaches 8 years of age, they will no longer be able to breed. Puppies in whelping pens are not old enough to breed,
Players can attempt to breed a dog once per day per dog. Your turn counts as "used" for the day, even on unsuccessful breeding attempts.
Basic players are allowed 2 puppies per litter and upgraded players are allowed up to 6 puppies. Never will a successful breeding produce less than one puppy.
Personalities & Gift Items[]
A Selection of Gift Items
Each dog is born with a randomized personality, which includes their mate preferences. Dogs are capable of refusing to breed if the personality of the other dog isn't to their liking. Players can "butter up" the dogs by equipping gift items for the dogs to give each other during a breeding attempt to improve their chances of a successful breeding. Gift items can be purchased from the Gift Shop under the Stores section of the site. You can only equip one gift item at a time per dog.
Gift items include items like flowers, cakes, cookies, teas, and perfumes. The gifts your dog loves, likes , or dislikes depend on their personality type. When using a gift item, your dog will "wrap the item" and put in it in their Equipped items category on the Inventory page. Once equipped, it will automatically be used the next time they attempt to breed. You can remove the gift item from your dog under the Equipped tab in your Inventory if you change your mind about using it.
It is possible to have a successful breeding with two personality types that typically dislike each other – but it is difficult to be successful in doing so. Just because two dogs are the same personality type, it doesn’t mean they will get along better or be easier to breed together. In some cases, opposites attract. Breeding might fail based on luck or compatibility of the dogs' personalities. Compatibility may change depending on which dog is initiating the breeding attempt.
Each personality type has a scale in which every personality type falls in attraction level. Each personality type has a favorite personality type with results in the highest attraction level called “dream date”. This will be the easiest match to get the dogs to breed successfully
The next spot on the scale would be the “will-settle-for date”. The attraction between these types of dates will be moderate at best. They do get a small bonus just for having some attractive qualities.
The last spot on the scale would be the “arch nemesis date”. This would be essentially like going on a date with your worst enemy. To get a dog to breed with someone of arch nemesis attraction level, they will likely need to bring gifts.
Every other attraction type leftover would fall under “average joe” on the scale. They are not attractive, but also not unattractive to your dog. They do not earn any bonuses and they do not get any decreases on the attraction scale either. An average joe’s success will depend on how well the dog's interaction went and if any gift items were equipped that piqued the other dog's interest.
There are eleven personality types in total. Listed below are the personality types and which personality they react to the most. There is no way for players to officially confirm the dog's personality type without try out gift items and guessing to which personality type a dog may have based on their own past experiences with the dog. However, some holiday events offer ways to confirm what personality type a dog has for certain for a fee.
Tsundere (Grumpy Dere)[]
Tsundere personality types are high and mighty. Many would describe them as stuck up, even though they are loving towards friends. They aren't afraid to let their dates know if they think they are beneath them. Tsundere are deeply embarrassed by romantic feelings and tend to not enjoy love-y dove-y gifts. As a result, when a Tsundere is given a gift, they never love the gift and therefore never receive high effects from gift receiving. They either like or dislike gifts. Gifts like Roses, Tea of Passion, Tea of Rarity, Mon choux Perfume, and Amour de ma vie Perfume are particularly disliked by Tsundere. Roses represent romance and love to them, so they are deeply offended and embarrassed by such a gift. They dislike the listed teas because of the flavor profile and they make them feel too "emotional". They hate the listed perfumes because the smells are much too feminine.
The dream date attraction of the Tsundere is the Bakadere personality.
The Tsundere enjoys the Bakadere personality because the Bakadere personality generally misses the stinging remarks made by the Tsundere. The Bakadere is simply so unaware of what is going on, that they don't realize how rude the rest of the world thinks the Tsundere is and therefore, they tend to not fight or argue with each other and can get to know each other on a more personal level.

The Tsundere and Kuudere get along with each other for pretty obvious reasons - they both hide their true feelings deep down. Kuudere (Cool Dere)[]
The Kuudere personality can be described as cool, calm, and collected. The Kuudere personality type tends to hide their inner feelings under a calm and emotionless shell. They can be bluntly honest, stoic, and cynical, which can make them a difficult personality type to love. When first meeting a new dog, they take a while to warm up to them. Over time the Kuudere will come around to those who are loyal, but the other personality type must have patience with them because they don't always react to advances - even if they like the other dog deep down. A few uninterested and unsympathetic rejections shouldn't phase the personality type pursuing the Kuudere or they will have their heart broken. The Kuudere likes all gifts, but never loves or hates them because they don't show any extreme emotion on the outside. They enjoy the kind gestures, but definitely will not show it.

The Kuudere finds the Dandere personality to be a personality type they can not only relate to, but that they can share coping strategies with to help improve the Dandere's ability to handle their more anxious moments. Because of the Kuudere's calm nature, they don't feel the emotional impact of the anxious nature of the Dandere and they can be the Dandere's calm in the storm. Kuuderes can open up easily to the Dandere because they don't feel pressured or pushed into interaction, due the Dandere's quiet and timid nature.

The Dandere personality is best described as quiet, shy, and anxious. They can be rather antisocial because they fear they will say the wrong thing, so they generally only speak or interact when spoken to first. They can open up and become quite talkative and friendly with the right dog though. While they may seem flustered and anxious in their interactions, underneath it all they can be social and sweet with close friends and their partner. The Dandere, like the Kuudere, doesn't have any "loved" gift item preferences because they tend to dislike the attention that comes with getting gifts. However, they can like and dislike gifts. Gifts of food bring them comfort because they don't have to speak while eating and they have a tendency to stress eat to decrease their anxiety. However, any other gift items they dislike receiving because they need to give more thoughtful responses when getting them and they aren't sure how.

The Dandere feels safe when interacting with the Deredere personality type. The carefree and happy nature of the Deredere is soothing to the Dandere because they never worry about being yelled at when around them. The Deredere is generally happy to be around the Dandere, despite their quiet nature. Since the Deredere is unafraid to show their love for others, the Dandere never has to make the first the move in this relationship and they prefer it that way.

If they were a dog breed, they would be the Golden Retriever. This type can forgive and recover from rejection and can still remain close friends with the dog who rejected them. They are lovey dovey and show affection without fear of judgement. The Deredere enjoys the more simply things in life and therefore loves getting gifts that have feeling behind them vs being more expensive or fancy. They love to get gifts that are sweet just like them, like Strawberry Roll Cake, Strawberry Carob Cookies, and Mon choux Perfume. They tend to dislike getting fancy items because they can be more humble. Gifts like Amour de ma vie Perfume, Tea of Rarity, and Tea of Passion they will dislike because they feel like it's too much. They will like accepting all other items however they typically can appreciate the gesture.

The Deredere finds the Undere personality type easy to get along with. Because Undere are codependent and agreeable, the Deredere finds them easy to be around and enjoyable. The Deredere can also let their loving nature shine through without worry that it will be too much from the Undere to handle.

The Kamidere personality type could be compared to a narcissistic person with grandiose delusions. They have a god-complex and some can believe they are actually deities. However, even if they aware that they aren't a deity, they expect to be treated like one by everyone around them. They are arrogant, self-centered, and think highly of themselves. They often refer to others as inferior. Since they are infallible beings in their minds, their loved ones should treat them as such. Pointing out any flaws could be the end of the relationship. The Kamidere loves gifts that are decadent, like Roses, Tea of Rarity (they like this because they think the name means it is rare and special), and Amour de ma vie Perfume. They tend to dislike gifts that seem childish and beneath them, like Strawberry Roll Cake, Strawberry Carob Cookies, and Mon choux Perfume. They will accept any other gifts and like them because they see them as offerings.

They can be snooty and vain, but once they get close to a person, some are able to drop the act and treat those closest to them with a softer approach. The Himedere loves gifts that are regal and royal in appearance, like Amour de ma vie Perfume, Tea of Passion, and Red Velvet Cake. They can dislike gifts more homemade feeling in nature, like Strawberry Carob Cookies, Cinnamon Cookies, and Strawberry Roll Cake. Aside from that they are like any other items their "subjects" bring them.

The Himedere and the Kamidere have a lot in common. The Himedere feels more important when around the Kamidere because of the Kamidere's god-complex. This personality type falls in love hard and they are willing to say yes to anything their love interest wants to keep them around. They often don't know what to do without their love interest. They fear being abandoned by their loved one if they decline to do something and therefore, will even go as far as to fake interest in things their love interest enjoys just to make them happy. Because of this, the Undere loves all gifts from their loved one and never complains about the type of gift.

The Undere and Bakadere are both naive in their approaches to life. The Bakadere and the Undere can form a lasting relationship based on this though. They love gifts like Amour de ma vie Perfume, Tea of Rarity, and Roses. The dislike gifts they see as cheap, poorly made, or more child-like, like Mon choux Perfume, Strawberry Carob Cookies, Strawberry Roll Cake, or Honeysuckles. Any other gifts they will take and enjoy receiving simply because they are material objects.

Bakadere aren't the brightest of the personality types. They are generally clumsy, ditzy, and lack common sense. They can be naively sweet and caring and tend to be overly optimistic about possible outcomes because they lack the ability to think things could turn out otherwise. They can rush into interactions or situations without thinking things through and generally do so with glee. They can come off as very childlike because of these qualities. Because they are more carefree and innocent, they tend to dislike gift items that would appeal to a more mature palette, like Red Velvet Cake, Tea of Rarity, and Tea of Passion. They love gifts that are more playful like fruity scented perfumes and cookies, like Cinnamon Cookies, Strawberry Carob Cookies, and Mon choux Perfume. With other gifts, they appreciate the gesture and generally like and accept them.

The Bakadere can find themselves easily attracted to the Dandere personality type because the Dandere is more socially awkward, which they can related to. The Yandere personality type is one of the most conflicting personality types because they start out sweet and loving towards their love interest, but spiral into over-protectiveness with can present as a devotion that is mentally destructive for both parties. It is not unusual to see the Yandere described as mentally unstable and deranged. Their protectiveness of their love interest can become toxic, as they can turn violent to anyone or anything that could hurt or "steal away" their loved one. While they may appear stable and sweet at first, the Yandere's true colors will soon come out as they develop stronger feelings. The Yandere loves to receive Tea of Passion as gift because it further intensifies their feelings for their love. They also love to receive perfumes, like Amour de ma vie Perfume and Mon choux Perfume, which have seductive scents that can draw in their prey - uh, I mean love interests. They dislike receiving Red Velvet Cake, Cinnamon Cookies, or Honeysuckles as gifts because they feel they aren't personal and passionate enough, so they can take receiving these as a sign that their suitor doesn't really love them as much as they love them. However, they tend to like pink items with hearts because they feel it is their suitor admitting more intense feelings. Gifts like Strawberry Roll Cake, Strawberry Carob Cookies, Tea of Rarity, as well as Roses, which also represent passion will be liked by the Yandere.

The Yandere enjoys the company of Kuudere, despite the Kuudere usually disliking them. The Kuudere's cool and confident personality has an aire of stability which the Yandere lacks all together. The Yandere finds themselves heavily attracted to this quality of the Kuudere. Even though it is clear that the relationship will likely end in the not-so-near future, the Yandere is drawn to the drama and conflict this type of relationship brings to the table.
The will-settle-for attraction of the Yandere is the Dandere personality.
The Yandere can easily overwhelm the Dandere personality type with their obsessive nature. The Dandere being anxious and timid will generally allow this behavior to go on for far too long and this gives the Yandere time to develop strong feelings for them. Since the Dandere doesn't usually put their foot down during social interactions, this leads the Yandere getting a partner they can keep around for a long time - without them complaining.

The Yandere finds the happy-go-lucky nature of the Deredere quite sickening. The Deredere is everything the Yandere tries to be at the beginning of relationship before their mind starts down the twisted spiral of dark obsession. Because of this, the Yandere can't face this personality type without feeling a sense of failure because they just couldn't keep up the act.
Shundere (Depressed Dere)[]
The Shundere personality type is only given to dogs with COI percentage of 25% or above. This personality type lacks motivation to breed, due to incest related factors since they automatically suffer from inbreeding depression at that COI percentage. They are generally depressed and uninterested in others. They avoid or ignore the advances of other dogs of any personality type, even if they are bringing gifts. Therefore they have no attraction scale nor do they get any bonuses from gifts. They are extremely difficult to get a successful breeding attempt with - though not impossible.
Inbreeding Depression & Avoiding Inbreeding[]
Wasabi has borrowed some realism from the real world when it comes to the inbreeding system. When dogs are bred to dogs they are related to in some way, the dog's coefficient of inbreeding percentage (COI) will rise. Once the dog reaches 25% percent or higher, the dog will be affected by inbreeding depression. Inbreeding depression causes the dog to lose interest in breeding and can make achieving pregnancy difficult. These dogs can still breed successfully, but it is very challenging to do so. These dogs are marked with the inbred symbol on the Kennels page and in the Pet Shop.
When attempting to breed dogs, players should be aware that the once they begin the breeding process, the module popup that appears will calculate the pair of dogs' future litter's COI percentage. For no inbreeding, this percentage would be zero. Anything 25% or above will result in the puppies being marked with inbred symbols on their profiles and also suffering from inbreeding depression. You can also view the average COI for the entire breed on the website by looking at the Breeding tab on your dog's profile or viewing their Genetic Report results if you have had them gene tested by the vet.
Inheriting Genetic Disorders[]
By default, genetic disorders that their dog has are not viewable by players without genetic testing from the Vet under the Services page. Then the vet will generate a genetic report for the player, which shows if their dog has a genetic disorder or not and what that disorder is. The report also shows their genetic potential for certain traits. The results will be displayed on the dog’s public profile for all players to see. If the dog does not have a disorder, it will mention the dog was tested and free of genetic disorder. If the dog has not been tested, it will be mentioned of their profile as well. Studding[]
Dogs can be “studded” to other players for game currency and Pick of the Litter fees. The player is paying for the breeding attempt. So, their breeding can be rejected or be success as normal. They will lose their currency if it is a failure.
Females and males can be studded. The puppies will stay in a whelping pen with their mother until they age out, but the paying player can interact with them to socialize them, name them, etc. as per usual.
Stud dog owner will be alerted via private message by the game that a breeding attempt was made, by what player and with what dog.
Color Genetics[]
Wasabi color genetics are extremely simplified and do not follow typical color genetic "rules". Dogs can only be born colors available to their breed naturally, unless the direct parents of the dogs were colored by sushi. The puppies have a chance of inheriting sushi colors from their parents. Puppies have a slightly higher chance of being the same color as their parents. Breeding two merle dogs together can result in a double merle puppy being born in game, which also has higher risk of genetic disorders.
Pick Of Litter[]
When studding their dog, a player who is the stud owner can select to charge a “pick of the litter” fee, which means they get to select the puppy they will keep before the litter is unlocked for the player who pay to breed to their dog. If one puppy is born, the paying player will get the puppy. If more than one puppy is born, the studding player can select one puppy from the litter before sending all the remaining puppies to the paying player.
The stud owner can only see pictures of the puppies to see their colors and be told their gender and socialization stats. They cannot run genetic testing on the puppy before selecting. They are allowed to select one puppy or pass on pick of litter and send all the puppies to the paying player.
If the studding player does not pick from the litter within three days, the game will send the paying player all the puppies. The puppies do not age up during this time and remain "paused" in time until a selection is made or three days passes.
