Breed History[]
The origin lore of the Inugami tells a tale of a dog spirit that originated by the unfortunate event of a stray dog being ignored by a passing salaryman. The dog sadly died from starvation and became vengeful of humans who neglected their dogs. While in the spirit realm, it floated around and gathered up the souls of sad, neglected dogs. It transformed the dogs into Inugami, giving them the ability to possess humans who mistreated their pet dogs. Inugami become active in the normal realm during October, when the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest. Humans will occasionally summon these spirits to be their companions, however if neglected by their human master, they will possess them and bring forth bad luck. If their human masters treat them well, they will become inseparable and do their master’s bidding until the day they pass away. The Inugami don’t enjoy the presence of foxes and avoid them at all cost. If you approach a Fox shrine with your Inugami companion, it will refuse to enter.
Breed In Wasabi (SPOILERS)[]
The Inugami was added to the Wasabi Dog Sim gameplay officially on October 1st, 2021 during alpha testing. This breed was sponsored by player Brindle. The breed has 16 standard breed colors in the game with currently 4 color-modifying sushi. Within the game, the breed is considered a Special group breed and can thus enter competitions listed as Special-group only.
The Inugami is a purchasable-only breed, which requires a breed permit purchased from the Premium Shop for real money or SuperBones, a paid-for game currency. The permit allows players to adopt, breed, and sale/buy Inugami year-round to other players with the Inugami permit too. Without a breed permit, you cannot adopt or buy Inugami. Permits for the Inugami can only be purchased during the month of October.
SPOILERS BEGIN HERE:
The Inugami has several special abilities that are reflected in the game. The Inugami has the ability to possess their owners. The Inugami will only possess their owner when their owner hasn't fed them in over seven days. Once the owner is possessed, the site layout will change colors and banners to a more spooky layout and a variation of the navbar which makes some links "shake". When the owner is possessed, they will be cursed with "bad luck" which increases the likelihood that the player will get bad luck related events when the Inugami is active.
If the Inugami is fed religiously at least every three days for thirty days straight to become "loyal", once the Inugami is loyal, they will never possess the owner again and will bring them good luck when they are the active dog, which leads to more good events happening to the player. However, if the Inugami is sold, it will not carry over this loyalty effect to its new owner.
The Inugami will send messages each day it goes hungry as the active dog to the player's inbox. These messages appear glitchy and strange in appearance and grow in intensity each day. The Inugami also comes with its own special random events and park event interactions, like refusing to enter the Fox shrines and giving glitchy text random events.
The Inugami also has their own award which players can get for living with an Inugami for thirty days straight that is possessing them. This is called the "Nightmare Mode" award, which is applied to your account once you have won it and activated the dog you have achieved it with. It can be very difficult to achieve with the Inugami as your active dog because random events can randomly feed your Inugami, starting this timer over. You cannot achieve this award if your account is paused.
The Inugami had a new effect added in December of 2022 which interacts with the player's kennel grade. If the player owns a loyal Inugami (or Inugami plural), but their kennel grade drops to a D or below, their Inugami will lose loyalty to the player completely and immediately possess the player. The player will need to reinstate their kennel grade to a grade above D and regain their Inugami's loyalty to remove this effect.
