Komainu

Breed History[]

The Komainu is a holy dog that resembles a lion and dog. It protects gates and doors and prevents those with wicked intent from entering. Female Komainu typically guard inside of places while the male guards outside. They are said to be sent by gods to protect shrines. The owner of shrines were surprised by stone statues of creatures that looked similar to dogs and lions. At day, they are stone statues, and at night, they protect the shrine from evil. When someone breeds two Komainu, they receive good luck for bringing more guardians into the world. They play a special role in the Renewal Festival.

Breed in Wasabi (SPOILERS)[]

The Komainu have several colors/features unique to them. First, they have the standard boost to their stats, like all special breeds, which helps with better show placement and better puppies from breedings. They have their own shrine in the park, which was added to the game mid-April 2022. Different events through out the year will be made available, in which the shrine will interact differently with a Komainu than other breeds.

The Komainu also has a different set of morals than other breeds, which it takes quite seriously. Komainu will refuse to be adopted by any adopters who seem to be criminal in nature. They currently have 17 standard colors and males and females have different line art from each other.

Breed Stats[]

Each dog breed within Wasabi Dog Sim is given their own breed bonuses to their breed stats based upon realistic dog breed standards. Each breed is awarded two "High" bonus stats, two "Average" bonus stats, one "Above Average" bonus stat, and one "Low" bonus stat. Komainu are naturally born with possibility of higher than average breed stats than other breeds. This helps balance the gameplay upon the various dog breeds within the game and as helps prevent pet shop born puppies stick close to the breed standard upon entry into the game.
