Breed History[]
The Nara, a deer-like dog that only appears to humans who have been extremely generous. The Nara is around the size of a medium to large sized dog. They also behave and bark like dogs, despite having many other deer-like features. They can be shy and reserved at first, but once they warm up to their owners, they bring them good tidings and holiday cheer year around. Nara puppies are formally called "fawnpups".
In December, it is tradition to give many gifts in order to summon the Nara and bring good luck for the next year’s harvest when you bow to them. The Nara get their name from the capital city of Nara Prefecture. It’s believed that the reason the Nara went into hiding is because humans hunted them for their beautiful antlers and bushy tails. In addition to the tradition of gift giving, there is an annual dog sled race. Teams of sled dogs come from around the world to run across extremely snowy and mountainous terrains to bring gifts to various fishing towns and villages. The reason dogs are still used is because it is believed that even though the Nara aren’t visible to any human, they are always visible to dogs. The dogs are meant to track down the location of the Nara while they deliver gifts so that the mushers can bow to the Nara, asking them for a bountiful harvest and prosperity for spring in their homelands. If the Nara take a liking to a human, they have been rumored to follow them back home.
The Nara also has connection to the Nara Stone, a mysterious stone with carvings of deer-like dogs on it. Reports of this stone only appear around December each year and many historians believe it depicts Nara in its carvings.
Breed In Wasabi (SPOILERS)[]
The Nara was added to the Wasabi Dog Sim gameplay officially on December 1st, 2021 during alpha testing as an incomplete special breed, allowing players to purchase their permit at an all-time low price. The breed has 131 standard breed colors in the game with currently 1 color-modifying sushi. Within the game, the breed is considered a Special group breed and can thus enter competitions listed as Special-group only.
The Nara is a purchasable-only breed, which requires a breed permit purchased from the Premium Shop for real money or SuperBones, a paid-for game currency. The permit allows players to adopt, breed, and sale/buy Nara year-round to other players with the Inugami permit too. Without a breed permit, you cannot adopt or buy Nara. Permits for the Nara can only be purchased during the month of December.
On December 4th, 2021, additional Brindle Nara colors were released for the daily December content releases with the following story:
"We just got word that an adorable litter of Nara fawnpups was born this week at a local kennel. Among the puppies were some unique looking fawnpups in colors and markings that the breeder had never seen before. These new fawnpups are covered in striking stripes of various shades - they are brindles! After this discovery, Nara might be more related to dogs than previously thought. Geneticists immediately started running tests to find out what genes this litter carries and what possible future colors we could see.
Now all mother Nara in the game have a chance to deliver Brindle fawnpups in various shades and colors of Brindle. Check out the colors that the geneticists have discovered the Nara can carry so far! They are hard at work trying to discover other genes too and we will make additional reports when we hear more information. "
SPOILERS BEGIN HERE:
When the Nara is a player's active dog, they automatically grant the player extra good luck. When a player's luck is good, they are likely to see more good random events. The Nara also has additional special random events for their breed only, which appear when they are the player's active dog. These random events include mentions of Nara breed traits, lore, and the Nara bringing the player gifts of in-game items more often than other dogs. They tend to be very giving creatures and love to surprise their owners with new gifts - even outside of the month of December.
The Nara, like other special breeds, has higher breed stat bonuses on their genetic pontential traits and socialization traits when first adopted out of the pet shop. This means they will generally be higher quality dogs from the beginning if generated by the pet shop. They tend to have the higher genetic potential traits in speed and agility than your average dog.
This breed also has a special park event called the Nara Stone during December. This event gives players a free item each day of December. However, Nara owners with Nara as their active dog when approaching the stone, will get two free items instead of one each day.
The Nara's planned special abilities are currently incomplete in the game and only the above-mentioned is functioning in game. The staff is working on more special abilities for this breed and as they are completed, players will be notified of these changes.
